Artist Book Residency

April & May 2016

I am so excited to be WSW's book artist for the spring. I'll be working intensively at the center to create a traditionally-printed edition of 50 pop up sculptural artist books.

Screenprint, intaglio etchings, bookmaking, hand-cut paper ribs, laser-cutting and woodworking resulted in a edition of 65 original 'city within' bookworks.

'inhabit' at MousePrint Gallery, Montreal

January 2014 at MousePrint Gallery, Montreal.

An exhibition of printmaking that is centered around the body and its connection to place and space, featuring the work of Natalie Draz and Hideki Kawashima, the two newest additions to Concordia University's Print Media Department.

Natalie Draz traveled down to NYC to exhibit her variety of pop-up books and sculptures, and to lead multiple interactive demonstrations. Fellow makers of all ages created one of four fundamental pop-up techniques and walked away with their own pop-up card.

'Terra Cognita' at The Lennox Contemporary

Lennox Contemporary, Toronto, June 2013

'Terra Cognita', an exhibition of pop-up portraits, is a series of photographs that documents a person's neighbourhood as a personal geography surrounding them. An urban take on the common European legends of giants or dragons settling down and having a village built on top of it. Natalie Draz would like to thank the wonderful volunteers who gave their time, their portaits and their personal maps of Montreal for the project.
